Instrumental Surf Sounds from Turtle Island

Bio

Gladwyn Badger is a Nehiyaw (Cree) instrumental guitarist and artist from Sturgeon Lake Cree Nation, originally from Grande Prairie, Alberta and now based in Kitchener-Waterloo, Ontario.

Rooted in instrumental surf rock, Gladwyn’s music pulls from garage rock, rockabilly, punk, early rock & roll, crime jazz and spaghetti western soundtracks—big on reverb, melody and guitar-driven energy.

His music challenges expectations of what Indigenous music is supposed to sound like. Rather than being defined by a single genre, Gladwyn brings his identity and experiences into the music while exploring the sounds that have inspired him throughout his life.
